This page shows an extract from the 1841 census. The green blocks show the separate households in the workers' cottages at the Tile Kilns, Green Lanes, administratively under Tottenham. Also shown are some of the adjacent households in Green Lanes where pottery workers lived. Note the surnames Cole, Colley, Pettit, Sharp and Dean which all feature in our family history. Note also that the ages of all individuals over 15 should always rounded down to the nearest five years for the 1841 census - although this rule was not always kept. |
