Martha
Maria Cole was the fifth daughter of John Cole, born in 1847. At the age of
4 she was at the Tile Kilns. She married a man with the surname Andrew
(possibly Richard Andrew), but no record of
the marriage has come to light. Shipping records show that as Mrs
Martha Andrew she arrived in South Australia on 3 December 1890. Her
last address was the "Home for Incurables" in Adelaide where
she was admitted on the 18th March 1921 suffering from
arteriosclerosis. She was by then a widow and her next of kin was
given as Mary Ann Reedman. So presumably she had no living children.
She died on the 14 January 1923, aged 73 years and was buried in the
plot of Edward John Reedman and, later, his wife Mary Ann. The source
of the photo was Edward John's sister, Sarah Venning.
