2008: Cole bulb bowls |
I am grateful to Ali in North London for sending me photos of some bulb bowls which were made at Cole's White Hart Lane Pottery. This was the first and only time that anyone in the family has seen this ware from the family pottery, and we had no idea that such bowls even existed. Ali reports that the bowls are chipped and cracked - which is hardly surprising because they were probably made some time before the pottery closed back in the 1950s. In spite of this, they are important to the family as they show a clear stamp stamp underneath which confirms their origin. The Cole stamp reads:
The bowls are a set of three, in decreasing sizes with largest is about a foot in diameter. They belong to Ali's mother who is very attached to them for sentimental reasons. They are in regular use.
